4. ANYTHING, NOTHING, etc. Beginning ANY expresses it makes no difference . NOTHING, NOWHERE, etc. express NOT ANYTHING, NOT ANYWHERE, etc. Situation: Robert and his wife Betty are making plans for the evening. Robert: What would you like to do tonight, Betty? Betty: ANYTHING you like. What do you want to do? Robert: NOTHING in particular. Betty: Then, let’s stay home and watch television. Robert: Is there ANYBODY we should visit? Betty: NOBODY I can think of. Robert: Then, why don’t we go somewhere? ANYWHERE, you decide. Betty: No, NOWHERE. I prefer to stay home and relax tonight. Exercise: 4.1. Practice ANYBODY, ANYWHERE, etc. Answer the questions with ANY… YOU LIKE. For example: What shall we do tonight? ANYTHING YOU LIKE . Where should I wait for you ? ANYWHERE YOU LIKE . Who should I ask for a date ? ANYBODY YOU LIKE . When shall I pick you up ? ANYTIME YOU LIKE . How should I do it ? ANYWAY YOU LIKE . 1. Who shall we ask for dinner? 6.
