2.2. RECITATION CLASS, etc. Situation: Ali has picked up his time schedule and is talking with his adviser. Ali: Would you please explain these abbreviations in the time schedule to me? Prof. Jones: Of course. REC means RECITATION CLASS. The teacher talks informally and calls on students to answer questions. The students can also raise questions and bring up problems. The professor and the class, usually graduate students, discuss problems related to a specific subject. The students frequently prepare reports and sometimes read them to the rest of the class.
